Fundación Joya-Medellin, in cooperation with Kinderschloss Wendorf in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany, is opening a call for applications to recruit three Colombian professionals for a project focused on the protection and restoration of the rights of children and young people in Germany.

This is an international labour mobility process designed for professionals committed to children, social justice and human development.

About the workplace

Kinderschloss Wendorf is a child and youth welfare facility located in Möllenhagen, in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in north-eastern Germany. It is dedicated to the protection, care and restoration of the rights of children and young people in vulnerable situations.

Requirements

  1. Professional degree in Social Work or Social Pedagogy from a higher education institution accredited by the MEN (Colombian Ministry of National Education) and recognised in Germany or eligible for recognition in Germany.
  2. Documented experience working with children and/or young people; at least 2 years of experience is considered an advantage.
  3. Medium- or long-term volunteer work with children and young people, as well as relevant practical placements, will be positively considered.
  4. Residence in Medellín or nearby municipalities.
  5. Knowledge of English and/or German is welcome but is not an exclusion criterion in Phase 1.
  6. Willingness to study German intensively during the second half of 2026 and to certify German language level A2 before the end of 2026.

Employment conditions

ContractFull-time for 2 years, with an option to extend
Working hours40 hours per week / 173 hours per month
Gross salaryApprox. EUR 3,000–3,200 per month
Net salaryApprox. EUR 2,200 per month after deductions for social security contributions and taxes
Annual leave24 days per year (20 statutory days + 4 additional days)
AccommodationIncluded for the first 3 months, with support in finding permanent housing
FlightsOne-way flight at the start of employment plus a return ticket to Colombia at the end of the assignment
FamilyPossibility to bring one family member from the third month in Germany onwards

Support and training included

  1. Guidance and support with the visa process and work permit.
  2. Preparation and support for the recognition of the professional qualification in Germany.
  3. Intensive German course A1 and A2 (5–6 months, funded).
  4. Introduction to life in Germany and to working at Kinderschloss Wendorf.
  5. Support with opening a bank account, residence-related procedures, internet access and mobile phone service upon arrival.
  6. Ongoing German language course in Germany. Within 2 years, language level C2 must be certified; this is a requirement for contract extension.

The process: three phases

Phase 1 — Application (May–June 2026)

  1. Submission of CV and motivation letter (max. 1 page) to sebastian.aguirre@joya-medellin.co by June 4, 2026.
  2. Initial virtual introductory interview.
  3. In-person interview with the Fundación Joya and Kinderschloss Wendorf team during the third week of June 2026.

If selected, the candidate proceeds to Phase 2.

Phase 2 — Preparation (July–December 2026)

  1. Intensive German course A1 and A2 (5–6 months) for the 3 selected candidates.
  2. Support with visa procedures, work permit and recognition of the professional qualification.
  3. Introduction to work at Kinderschloss Wendorf and to everyday life in Germany.
  4. Progress requirement: certification of German language level A2 before the end of 2026 and completion of the induction and support process.

Phase 3 — Arrival in Germany (January 2027)

  1. Reception and orientation by the team in Wendorf.
  2. Comprehensive support with housing, bank account, mobile phone service and residence-related procedures.
  3. Official start at Kinderschloss Wendorf.
  4. Continuation of German language training with the goal of certifying level C2 within 2 years.
